Review: ประสบการณ์นวดผ่อนคลายที่ The Oasis Spa
Aside from ladyboys, scrumptious street food, and lively nights, Thailand is also renowned for its plethora of spas. And during my recent trip to Bangkok, I was invited to a spa session at one of Bangkok's award-winning spas, The Oasis Spa.
ส่วนมากชาวต่างชาติจะรู้จักประเทศไทยเพราะ สาวประเภทสอง(ที่ส๊วยสวย) อาหารอร่อยๆ ที่ขายตามข้างถนนในตรอกซอย แล้วก็ไนท์ไลฟ์เฮฮา นอกจากนี้เค้าก็ยังชอบมานวดสปาที่นี่ด้วย แล้วตอนที่กลับไทยรอบนี้ มุ้ยก็ได้มีโอกาศไปนวดที่ ดิ โอเอซิส สปา (The Oasis Spa) หนึ่งในสปาติดอันดับของกรุงเทพฯ ด้วย
I'm a sucker for anything that's nicely themed and decorated, and The Oasis Spa is what I'd call nicely themed and decorated. The first things you'll notice once you enter the perimeters of the spa would be the huge rectangular lotus pond and colourful walls. But contrasting the bright colours on the outside, the colours in the interior of the spa take on a muter tone. Overall, the ambience is very relaxed.
ขอบอกก่อนเลยว่ามุ้ยเป็นคนที่ชอบร้านหรืออะไรก็ตามที่ตกแต่งสวยๆ แบบมีธีม/หัวข้อ แล้ว ดิ โอเอซิส สปา นี่คือใช่เลย ตกแต่งสวย มีหัวข้อ พอเดินเข้าไปในสปา อย่างแรกที่จะสังเกตุเห็นได้ทันทีคือบ่อดอกบัวทรงเหลี่ยม แล้วก็กำแพงที่มีสีสันสดใส แต่ด้านในของร้านจะแตกต่างกับด้านนอกตรงที่ว่าสีกำแพงจะหม่นๆ หน่อย อารมณ์ที่จะรู้สึกได้ทันทีเมื่ออยู่ในบริเวณสปานี้ก็คือความเงียบสงบ ผ่อนคลาย
The bits and pieces of furniture, decorations, and patterns all over the waiting area of the spa might have you wondering what the actual theme is, because it looks kind of Thai, but then the patterns also look kind of Qing-Dynasty-Chinese, and the rugs look kind of Indian or Persian, but then the flowers and the steel bowls are definitely Thai! So what are you??
พวกสิ่งของ เฟอร์นิจงเฟอร์นิเจอร์ ลายต่างๆ ที่เค้าใช้ตกแต่งในร้านอาจจะทำให้งงๆ ได้ (ถ้าไม่ได้คุ้นเคยกับประเพณีไทยนะ) เพราะว่าพอเข้าไปแล้วก็ ความคิดแรกก็จะแบบ เออมันก็ดูไทยนะ แต่พวกลายตามปลอกหมอนกับแจกันมันก็ดูจีนๆ แบบจีนราชวงศ์ชิง เอ๊ะ แล้วพรมก็ดูแขกๆ นะ แต่ไอขันกับดอกไม้นี่ไทยชัวร์ๆ อ่ะ ตกลงนี่ธีมประเทศอะไรกันแน่เนี่ย?!
The answer would be: Thai Lanna (Northern Thai).
(Google "Thai Lanna" and look at the 'Images' tab and, I promise, you'll go "Ahh" with understanding.)
คำตอบก็คือ ไทยล้านนา นั่นเอง
(ถ้าไม่รู้ว่าสไตล์ไทยล้านนาเป็นแบบไหนก็ถามอากู๋กันเนอะ แล้วดูตรงรูป เห็นแล้วจะร้อง อ๋อ กันแน่ๆ)

Apparently The Oasis Spa is one of the 10 Best Thai spas. I have no idea what the criteria for judging are, but my guess would include the overall look-and-feel, facilities, services, and cleanliness, all of which they've done a pretty neat job on. There's also a Wifi network available for us guests to freely use. Oh, and did I mention their spa menu comes in 5 languages--English, Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. There might have been more languages, but I'm not sure, I only remembered the Asian ones (not being racist/nationalist or anything. ;P)
ดิ โอเอซิส สปา นี่เค้าติดอันดับ 10 ร้านสปาไทยสำหรับปีนี้ด้วยนะ มุ้ยเองก็ไม่รู้หรอกนะว่าเค้าให้คะแนนกันยังไง มีข้ออะไรที่ต้องตรวจนู่นนี่นั่น แต่ถ้าให้ทายก็คงต้องมี ความสวยงามของร้าน สิ่งอำนวยความสะดวก บริการ แล้วก็ความสะอาด ซึ่งทั้งหมดนี้สปาทำได้อย่างดีเลยล่ะ เค้ายังมี วายฟาย ให้ลูกค้าใช้ด้วย แล้วมุ้ยบอกไปยังว่าเมนูสปาเค้ามีมาในภาษา อังกฤษ ไทย จีน ญี่ปุ่น และ เกาหลี คือ 5 ภาษาแหนะ โหดมากฮะ จริงๆ อาจจะมีมากกว่านี้ก็ได้ แต่มุ้ยไม่แน่ใจ เพราะจำได้แต่ภาษาเอเซีย (ก็ไม่ได้เหยียดสัญชาติหรืออะไรหรอกนะ 555)

The Oasis Spa at Sukhumvit 51 has a total of about.. 6? 8? or was it 12? Crap, I forgot, but never mind; The point is regardless of how many rooms they have in total, each and everyone of us guests will always have a private room to ourselves. Even if you came alone and were placed in a twin room with two beds and two everything, you will still have that room to you and only you. And if you and your partner/girl friend/guy friend would like to come and indulge yourselves together, you could share the twin room.
ดิ โอเอซิส สปา สาขาสุขุมวิท 51 มีทั้งหมดประมาณ 6 หรือ 8.. หรือ 12 นะ จำไม่ได้อ่ะ แหะๆ แต่ประเด็นไม่ได้อยู่ที่จำนวนเนอะ ที่มุ้ยอยากบอกก็คือว่า ลูกค้าทุกคนที่มาทำสปาที่ร้านนี้จะมีห้องส่วนตัวทุกคนทุกครั้ง ทางร้านจะไม่มีการรวมห้องเด็ดขาด ถึงแม้ว่าจะมาคนเดียวแล้วเหลือห้องคู่ เค้าก็จะให้เราใช้คนเดียว แล้วถ้าวันไหนอยากมากับเพื่อน แฟน หรือใครก็ตาม ก็เลือกที่จะทำพร้อมกันในห้องคู่ได้เหมือนกัน
Every spa room also comes with a shower room, wardrobe--with robes, disposable shower caps and G-String undies for you to change into--and a wooden safe box with padlocks for you to store your valuables. The room and everything in it are very clean. I've not seen each and every room but I would assume that the Jacuzzi tubs and toilets are only available in twin rooms.
ห้องทุกห้องจะมี ห้องอาบน้ำ ตู้เสื้อผ้า (พร้อมเสื้อคลุม หมวกกันผมเปียกแบบใส่ครั้งเดียวทิ้ง แล้วก็กางเกงใน จี-สตริง แบบใส่ครั้งเดียวทิ้ง ให้เราเปลี่ยน) แล้วก็กล่องเก็บของมีค่าที่มีล๊อคให้พร้อม ทุกอย่างในห้องและตัวห้องเองก็สะอาดสะอ๊างดีค่ะ มุ้ยไม่ได้เข้าไปดูทุกห้องนะ แต่ที่สังเกตุมาคือห้องคู่จะมี อ่างจากุซซี่ แล้วก็ ห้องน้ำในตัว ด้วย

After taking in the beautiful lotus pond out front, I walked along the wooden path that leads to the wooden double door entrance. Right away, I was greeted by their friendly staff and led to the seating area to the right of the reception table. After I sat down, they served me ginger drink and hand towels and then they asked me to fill in some basic information about myself and my preferences (i.e. where was I from, do I have any allergies, any area I wanted to pay particular interest in, and how soft/heavy I liked the pressure to be applied, etc.). I waited a couple more minutes and then a therapist led me to my room.
หลังจากที่มองดูบ่อดอกบัวด้านหน้าร้านเสร็จ มุ้ยก็เดินตามทางไม้ไปถึงประตูไม้ใหญ่หน้าร้าน พอเปิดเข้าไปปุ๊ปก็เจอหน้ายิ้มแย้มแจ่มใสของพนักงานเลยค่ะ แล้วเค้าก็พามุ้ยไปนั่งตรงบริเวณที่นั่งที่อยู่ด้านขวาของโต๊ะต้อนรับ หลังจากที่นั่งลงเค้าก็มีน้ำขิงแล้วก็ผ้าเช็ดมือมาเสริฟ์ แล้วก็ให้มุ้ยกรอกแบบฟอร์มเกี่ยวกับตัวเองนิดหน่อย เช่น มาจากประเทศอะไร มีแพ้อะไรรึเปล่า มีจุดไหนที่อยากจะให้ความสำคัญเป็นพิเศษรึเปล่า แล้วก็ชอบให้นวดหนักเบาระดับไหน ฯลฯ ต่อมาก็นั่งอีกแปปนึงแล้วเธอราพิสท์ก็พามุ้ยไปที่ห้องสปาค่ะ
The massage I chose was called the King Oasis (2 hours long, THB 3,900)
สปาที่มุ้ยเลือกทำในวันนั้นคือ คิง โอเอซิส (ระยะเวลา 2 ชม., 3,900 บาท)
As soon as I entered the room, a very strong herbal smell hit me. It was the smell of the Thai Herbal Hot Compress that was part of the spa session. The therapist then asked me to strip and change into the robe and disposable underwear provided. After I've changed, she came back into the room and asked me to lie face down and did a preliminary light massage. I was about to drift off, but then the massage ended and the therapist confirmed with me that we are going to do the King Oasis today, then she started applying the Hot Compress all over my back. I'm not too sure where the hot compress was applied because I was in that zone where it felt like I was asleep, yet awake--yes, it's because it was very, very relaxing.
ทันทีที่เดินเข้าไปถึงในห้อง มุ้ยก็ได้กลิ่นของสมุนไพรที่แรงมาก มันเป็นกลิ่นของลูกประคบที่จะใช้ในสปาครั้งนี้ เธอราพิสท์เค้าก็ให้มุ้ยถอดเสื้อผ้าแล้วก็เปลี่ยนใส่เสื้อคลุมและกางเกงในที่มีเตรียมไว้ให้พร้อม หลังจากที่เปลี่ยนชุดเรียบร้อยแล้วเค้าก็กลับเค้ามานวดผ่อนคลายกล้ามเนื้อ พอมุ้ยกำลังจะหลับพอดี เธอราพิสท์เค้าก็พูดคอนเฟิร์มว่าวันนี้ทำ คิง โอเอซิส นะคะ แล้วก็เริ่มด้วยการประคบด้วยลูกประคบ มุ้ยก็จำไม่ค่อยได้แล้วว่าเริ่มประคบส่วนไหนก่อน เพราะตอนนั้นคืออยู่ในช่วงที่แบบ เหมือนหลับอยู่แต่ก็เหมือนตื่นอยู่ เพราะมันสบายม๊ากมาก
Then after the Hot Compress part, the therapist continued with the oil massage. Again, it was very relaxing and the temperature of the oil was just the perfect degree of warm. After the therapist was done with my back, my sleep was interrupted for a bit because I had to turn over. But then she continued her massage, and I went back to dreamland.
หลังจากประคบเสร็จ ก็มาต่อด้วยนวดน้ำมัน สบายม๊ากมากเหมือนกันค่ะ อุณหภูมิของน้ำมันที่ใช้นวดคือเป๊ะมาก อุ่นได้พอดีเป๊ะมากมาก หลังจากที่นวดด้านหลังเสร็จ ก็ต้องตื่นมาแปปนึงเพราะต้องพลิกตัว แต่พอเธอราพิสท์นวดต่อ เราก็กลับเข้าสู่ดินแดนแห่งความฝัน
And then it was all over too soon. I could've laid there for another 2 hours. I showered and got dressed; all the while, the therapist had been waiting for me outside my door. When I was done, she led me back to the waiting area and then disappeared and reappeared with my hot ginger drink and hand towel.
แล้วทุกอย่างก็จบลง เร็วไปอ่าา ยังอยากอยู่ต่อได้อีก 2 ชม. 55 หลังจากที่นวดเสร็จเธอราพิสท์ก็ออกไปรอข้างหน้าห้องระหว่างที่มุ้ยอาบน้ำแต่งตัว พอเสร็จเค้าก็พามุ้ยกลับไปที่ลอบบี้ แล้วก็เอาน้ำขิงกับผ้าเช็ดมือมาเสิร์ฟให้
I'm sorry I can't give you any more details as I was drifting in and out of sleep the whole two hours. But I can assure you it was very, very relaxing. Although I didn't really like the smell of the herbal compress, it was bearable and the soothing music and dim room was nice. And the warmth of the massage oil? Mmhmm, perfect.
มุ้ยต้องขอโทษที่ให้รายละเอียดการนวดได้แค่นี้น้า เพราะตอนที่ทำคือเคลิ้มๆ หลับๆ ตื่นๆ ตลอดทั้ง 2 ชั่วโมงเลย แหะๆๆ แต่บอกได้เลยว่าผ่อนคลายสบายมากก ถึงแม้กลิ่นสมุนไพรของลูกประคบจะไม่ค่อยถูกจมูกมุ้ย แต่มันก็โอเครับได้ แล้วเสียงเพลงที่ผ่อนคลายกับห้องที่มีแสงไฟนัวๆ คือดี แล้วน้ำมันอุ่นๆ นี่คือใช่มากค่ะ
I'd like to thank The Oasis Spa Thailand for having me at their Sukhumvit 51 branch. Now I can't wait to visit Thailand and indulge in another spa session again!
